Privacy Policy
Civetta is a podcast app for iPhone and iPad made by Craig Holliday ("we"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us process it, and how you can delete it. The short version: we keep only what the app needs to sync your podcasts. We show no ads, we do not track you, we use no third-party analytics, and we never sell your data.
What we collect
Your account
- An account identifier. Every install gets one, including a guest.
- Your email address, only if you sign in. We use it to send sign-in codes and to answer you. We send no marketing email.
Your library
To sync between your devices, our server stores your subscriptions, played state and listening progress, listening history, Up Next, Inbox, playlists, stars, bookmarks, tags and show settings. The app uses this to work; we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
Notifications
If you turn on new-episode notifications, we store your device's push token so Apple can deliver them.
Search
When you search for shows, our server sends your search words to the PodcastIndex catalog. It does not send who you are.
Server logs
Like any web service, our hosting provider handles your IP address and request details to deliver and protect the service. We keep logs for a short time for debugging and security.
What stays on your device
Downloaded episodes, on-device transcription and your playback settings stay on your iPhone or iPad. Episode audio, artwork and transcripts come directly from each podcast's publisher. Their servers see your IP address, as with any podcast app, and their own privacy policies apply.
Who processes your data
- Cloudflare: runs our server and delivers sign-in emails.
- Neon: hosts our database.
- Apple: delivers push notifications.
- PodcastIndex: receives search words, not your identity.
They process data only to provide their service to us.
How long we keep it
- We keep your account and library until you delete them.
- A guest account with no podcasts is deleted automatically about a week after its session ends.
- Deleted data can remain in database backups for up to 30 days before it is gone.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account. Open Settings, then Account, and tap Delete Account. This deletes your account and its library from our servers right away.
- Take your shows with you. Export your subscriptions as OPML from Settings, then Subscriptions.
- Ask us. Email support@civettaapp.com to access, correct or delete your data. Depending on where you live, including the EU, UK and California, you may have further rights. We will help you use them.
Children
Civetta is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.
Security
All traffic uses HTTPS. Sign-in codes are stored only as hashes and expire after 10 minutes.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. For a significant change, we will also tell you in the app.
